Those who follow me on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter might have seen pictures of my baked goods. It is time for me to start sharing my recipes.
I love apples, applesauce, cinnamon, and bread. So this is a favorite when it is raining out (or sunshine). On all of my recipes I use organic ingredients when available and organic, free-range eggs when available.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
One 5″x9″ bread pan, I line with parchment paper but you could butter or spray
1/2 cup butter, softer than room temp (I usually stick in the oven for two minutes while it pre-heats)
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup turbinado sugar
1 cup applesauce
1/2 cup sour cream
1 & 3/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon cinnamon (to your taste)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
In a bowl combine all dry ingredients
Using a standing mixer on low, combine the wet ingredients until well mixed. Then slowly (I do it in five parts) add in the dry ingredients until well mixed. Pour mixture into bread pan and bake for ~50 minutes. Remove from oven.
I love the parchment paper for easy removal from the bread pan and then cool until you can touch before cutting with a bread knife. Or just dig in with your hands and enjoy!
This Friday, March 28th, will be my farewell show on KSCO Presents. The decision was a difficult one, but after recently taking on new projects with Cumulus San Francisco including a new show on the legendary KGO alongside gigs at KSFO, growing and maintaining the nationally syndicated Ethan Bearman Show (still heard Sundays on KOMY/KSCO and elsewhere), and myriad other projects, this step is a necessary change.
The honor has been mine to serve the loyal audience of the nationally recognized, locally owned, KSCO. Owner Michael Zwerling, program director Rosemary Chalmers, general manager Michael Olson, and everyone else at the family known as KSCO and KOMY have been absolutely wonderful to work with. Every minute has been a joy, and I am extremely grateful for all of the friendships and memories made.
Keep listening and sharing your experiences with me!
Thank you to all of the listeners who showed up to the blood drive YESTERDAY!
From the Red Cross:
Thank you again for everything you did yesterday! The show was amazing – fun and entertaining, but still very informative and educational in regard to all the lines of Red Cross service in the community. The drive brought in 29 pints of blood and your show was the main reason it came in over goal (107%).You should be extremely proud of your efforts.
Join Ethan at the American Red Cross Santa Cruz Blood Drive event on Monday, March 3rd from 10am to 4 pm. KSCO Presents Ethan Bearman will be live, on-air broadcasting from the event from noon to 2 pm and KO will do a play-by-play as Ethan donates blood! Come by and say hello while saving a life and donate a pint of blood.
