Traffic deaths were in a nice downward trajectory. Sadly, that is no longer case. In 2015 traffic deaths rose 7% and so far this year we are up more than 10%.

What changed? Automotive safety technology continues to progress making us safer, so that is actually keeping the number of deaths down.

However, we all have smartphones now and are too busy looking at them while on the road instead of paying attention to driving.

You lack self-control. And now we will have to implement technology to stop your technology or else we need to rapidly roll out self-driving cars.

Please don’t drink and drive. Please don’t text or tweet while driving. We can save 36,000 lives per year by just paying attention to what we are supposed to be doing while behind the wheel.
